el PÚBLICO is bringing a whole lot of humble hog to the streets of Highgate on Tuesday, 31 July. The menu includes: - cheese and sausage fondue - "mexican subway" - antijitos of lesser known parts - quesadilla's and all the regulars - sunday roast with the trimmings - not so classic ice cream spider
Five Bar
Five Bar has had a subtle facelift with the launch of a new menu and chalkboard scribblings on Tuesday. I was pleased to see the steak tartare still available to be happily consumed with the double chocolate stout.

The Precinct
Nestled in the heart of Vic Park this little eatery is fast becoming a favourite. We celebrated Karina's belated birthday breakfast at The Precinct. Warm and inviting with an organic relaxed feel serving up fresh seasonal produce with it's own little twist. A winning formula that it is most certainly working well with the place bustling of full tables and happy patrons.
We did have to wait a little for our orders which I have come to expect on a Sunday with a full house. The wait was worth every minute and it's always nice to ogle your plate with a rumbling tummy. My green eggs and ham were presented in such a kooky fashion that Dr Seuss himself would be proud. The spinach foam was delicate and bursting with flavour, and the eggs perfectly set. Toasties crammed with peanut butter, bacon and banana were beckoning so we ordered a serve to all share. I think I have found my new hangover go to. The bean cassoulet and herbed soft polenta were both tasty, wholesome dishes.
Thank you for another charming experience. We will be back.

Hansens Gourmet
Food gifts are the best gifts. Our friends have recently opened Hansens Gourmet in the wonder Coventry Square Markets complex in Morley. Owned and operated with love by the brother and sister team of Dan and Jess Hansen. They source local foods and offer a foods to go style catering service. The perfect place to drop in for a healthy and wholesome can't be bothered cooking meal. I was treated to try a Sticky Date and Chocolate Pudding. Served warm, this little pudding was rich and hate to say it, moist, and flooded with a sweet butterscotch that screams winter nights. Ahhhhh.

Golden King BBQ Express
I have not visited this little place since I worked at the Tanning Salon in Morley many moon's ago. Our friend Feisty's little boy dubbed it the "Chop Chop Man" way back when referring to the chopping of duck and pork. Selection of meats is pretty decent and there is something magical about their ginger dipping sauce.

buff and fuzz
I enlisted the ever so clever Sara Spence of Dubble You fame to help with my branding. For this type of work she goes by Buff & Fuzz offering affordable branding and design solutions for small businesses. I am now using her skills for all sorts of invitations, briefing her from our marketing department at Thermomix in Australia and doing bits and bobs which are possibly driving her mad.
