There is nothing like curing a post Laneway hangover than with a 9am start to the day at Welcome Inn Tea House.
Andrew Levins
This guy cooks a mean hamburger. I cannot wait to delve more into this cookbook. It's perfect for lazy nights in and feeding boys.
pretty slaw
I stole this from Billie & Rose.
curry from a fish and chip shop
Don't let the facade of the Finding Nemo seascape fool you! Maylands Fish Chips & Curry House is dishing out tasty tasty curry. Hidden on Eighth Avenue and quickly gaining momentum and definitely worth the 40 minute wait. Order the butter chicken and then try and keep it a secret. Smoky and rich you will find yourself sitting on the couch with the leftover sauce and a spoon. Seriously.
a bowl of jelly
There is more to Northbridge than an 8 hour old slice of pizza. With Fringe Festival breathing life into the city and PIAF around the corner, I am going to make a point of visiting this part of town more often. Finally! The streets are bustling with my kinda people and the food culture is slowly evolving.
I love spotting new places that have popped up. Longing for bubble tea after the Wau Wau Sisters in the Spiegeltent led me to Meet Fresh for herbal jelly. I am a pretty crap Asian, my mother lost most of her Singaporean ways when she married my father, so I tend to fumble my way around an eastern menu. This is probably why I ended up with a bowl of herbal jelly at midnight on a Friday.
#EATS
Every now and then your annoying photo taking comes to good use. My good friend Dwight wanted to pinch some grand #EATS photos for the cover of a mixtape for Ta-Ku & Kit Pop.

peanuts and liquor
Through a dimly lit alleyway you almost lose your way to Shady Pines. Walking down the stairs into the darkness towards the faint hear drawls and twang of Johnny Cash. Your eyes grow accustomed to the dim lights as you enter through the batwing doors. You notice the stuffed beasts and hear the sounds of peanut shells crunching under your feet. Every inch of this saloon resonates old America, conjuring memories of cowboys and old spaghetti Westerns. The atmosphere is loud and gruff without a fur trapper in sight. The drinks are darn good and the service is slick with everyone behind the bar a full barrel on liquor. With an extensive list of the hard stuff, you can find many a fine whiskey and good times here at Shady Pines - yee haw!

bills
Actually, I think I might have just packed her copies. Sorry Mum! A trip to Sydney would not have been complete without breakfast at Bills. I tucked into crab, chorizo and kim chee fried brown rice whilst my breky dates ordered the usual morning fare. Delicious.
Beaufort Street
ramen + radiohead
We were blessed to tackle the Sydney eating scene with the wonderful Ai-Ling of Food Endeavours of the Blue Apocalypse. Or else, we would never have stumbled upon this hidden gem. We stopped at Gumshara Ramen before being mesmerised by Radiohead. Bottom left hand corner is the Super Mega Ramen ... super mega amazing!

diner style
βPart basement dive bar, part diner. The dishes coming out of the kitchen at The Dip is bonafide comfort food at its best. This is the place you go to hang with friends any night of the week to reminisce about snowballing at school discos.
BSF pop up bar
This βwill definitely be a hot spot at the Beaufort Street Festival!
three word advice for BSF
Seed your Festival
The Beaufort Street Festival has joined forces with those green thumbed peeps at Green World Revolution to ensure the festival is in full bloom. The first day of Spring will see local residents, business owners, festival fans and many more plant ever bloom seeds in random household items.
