Donna Hay magazine is my kind of porn. I have promised myself to stop merely flicking through and actually make something. Baking is much more fun when you are baking for someone else so I made a batch for my bf's work. Caramel maple mud cakes with caramel fudge frosting. I made the frosting a little saltier ... caramel loves salt. It told me.

Duck Liver Parfait at Cantina is possibly one of my favourite dishes. I love it so much that I ordered 1kg of Maggie Beer's Pheasant Parfait for my bf's birthday soiree. I used a recipe from In the Mix using the new found love of my life (my Thermomix) and it was absolutely rich, delicate and simply divine.
Its so nice having friends who love food ... and even better having friends that want to feed you. Tash had a champagne fuelled birthday celebration complete with all kinds of horsie doovees, copious cheese boards and these amazing toasties by our friend Brad.
Spread some sobrassada (raw cured sausage from Mallorca, Spain) over slices of baguette. Whack them under the grill until slightly crunchy. Fry a batch of quail eggs sunny side up. Assemble and drizzle with truffle oil and a pinch of black sea salt. EAT.
I left the shops without prawns, argghhhhh don't you hate that! I loosely followed this recipe from Gourmet Traveller.
There is nothing better than a homecooked meal with your closest friends. Or a homecooked banquet including duck confit, duck liver parfait, tequila sorbet, gin and tonic jellies and a decadent chocolate cake. I rounded up Ryan's closest friends to celebrate his birthday. Magical.
Secret plans for birthday fun are the best kind of plans. We treated Nanette to a little birthday soiree before an espresso martini fuelled night at the Manor. Usually dubbed a Manwhore Rager. NANWHORE RAGER ... thank you Dwight. Liquid love in jamjars, Nan’s favourite late night munchies and a giant jar of Amaretto Sour. My clever little sister Vanessa baked the gorgeous cupcakes.
Boy birthdays are the best. Make bulk hot dogs, cheese burgers, pizzas and a giant punch bowl of Manhattans (then rage at the Manor). Happy bday Dwight! x

Birthdays are kind of a big deal to me. I love to make a fuss, write a card, ponder perfect present, more fuss, food, fuss yea yea you get it. I was sad to spend my birthday away from most of my favourite people . And when you have been friends since forever ... well some people just know you better than yourself. I arrived home from my travels to find this gorgeous invitation awaiting.
My amazing friend Brook put on what we call THE FUSS. An absolutely memorable day in the sunshine eating sweet treats with my dearest friends and little Harvey in the background being so damn cute.

Nothing melts the heart like birthday fuss. Beyond amazing to spend my birthday in London with both my sisters and one of my best friends who shares the same birthday as me. Happy birthday Jadey! It was also Flea's birthday two days before. So cute for the three of us to wake up to our own little princess party. Ahhhhh sugar high.
